The signature form is Timosha, as in the source. It is not automatically equated with the nickname Tyoma without a separate family decision; the brother is Timofey Timofeevich only where the notebook context makes that clear.

Yesterday I received your letter dated 3.VI.43. In it you write to me about why I did not write you concerning marriage. Well[?]. Yes, to be honest, I am not trying hard, because I already understood my mistake back in Vorobyovsk. I have weighed all her good and bad sides; I know she is not suited to independent working life. Вчера получил от тебя письмо за
датой от 3.VI.43. В нем ты пишешь мне
о том, почему я не писал тебе по
поводу замужества. Скажи[?]. Да, если
признаться, я и не стараюсь, ибо я
уже понял свою ошибку ещё в Воробьевске. Я учёл все её хорошие и плохие, знаю, что она не приспособлена к
самостоятельной трудовой жизни. Она
создана для замужней разумной
жизни. Действительно, с моим
