Dear Tanya!
I received your letter and, having read it, wanted to answer in the same tone — namely not well — and I was afraid not to answer a number of your letters, but I have a reason: I was busy with business. Well, nothing: you and I, I think, will forgive each other.
Tanyusha! About finishing which school you write with such delight, and everything — what do you think of next? I live as before, without change — the weather here is foul. Your glasses[?] Kale[?]… When you described to me how in the theatre… the taking of Kharkov, I laughed a lot and told my combat comrades about it.

Получил твое письмо и прочитав
его я хотел тебе в таком же тоне
ответить, а именно нехорошо и
я испугался не ответить на ряд
твоих писем, но у меня есть
причина - был занят по делам.
Ну ничего ты, я думаю, друг
друга извиним.
Танюша! Про окончание какого
учебного заведения ты пишешь
с таким восторгом и всеми,
что ты думаешь дальше?
Я живу по старому без перемен.
- погода у нас скверная.
Твои очки[?] Кале[?] остановили
твои[?] смотрели. Когда ты мне
описала как в театре немецкий[?]
взятие Харькова я очень смеялся
и рассказывал про это своим
боевым товарищам.
