Text from Tatyana Timofeevna’s handwritten notebook “Our genealogy: the Samsonovs”. First person. [?] — illegible places. Page numbers (p. N) are given in the comments.
Manuscript, squared notebook; the page continues the account of the family / dacha.
to the right, next to Mama — brother, to the left of
Papa sat I, and next to me — sister.
The parents worked a great deal, especially
Papa. At five in the evening Papa came
home, rested an hour or so, and then again
work. He would come then when we were already
asleep.
And then there was the dacha. We lived in
Serebryany Bor from 1927. They brought me
there in the nanny’s pram. Mama says that
at that time there were many crows there;
they woke me if the pram was put out
in the garden. The dacha was on the 1st ride
(line), house No. 2, not far from the circle where
bus No. 4 stopped. Then it became
a school. The school was still of pre-revolutionary
times, large, single-storey, built
of age-old pines. In summer a camp
was in the school.
Our dacha too was not new, but
good, of logs, two-storeyed.
Our family occupied the first floor.
There was a large balcony where we dined.
There stood a huge sofa (of deal boards),
and also a small (children’s) billiard table,
on which Papa loved to play; he
played billiards very well.
From the balcony one could go into
the parents’ room, and from it — into
a large but rather dark one. Here slept
brother. And from his room there was a door
into our room with sister. And also from
this room there was a door that
led into a small corridor and Grandmother’s
room. And there was also a small
cabin for a domestic worker. In the dacha there were
2 entrances: one — the front, onto the balcony, and
the other — the back.
On the second floor (the premises there
were smaller) Papa’s comrades with their families
always crowded. For a time the
Lavrukhins[?] crowded there, then the Pavlunovskys, who
had as nanny the cook Venka, then someone
else. One summer the family of
Papa’s driver Novikov crowded with us.
(in the left margin, opposite the paragraph about the second-floor tenants:) the Lilyakins[?]
We had a large plot, but it was
not all cultivated.
The flower bed and kitchen garden — Papa’s pride,
the work of his hands.
He laid out a large flower bed where grew
various flowers: mignonette, daisies,
carnations, marigolds, snapdragons, spitsy[?],
fragrant tobacco, sweet peas,
The sentence breaks off at the end of the page; the rest of the flower-bed list was not recovered.
