Interview about the House on the Embankment
In December 2011, already in deep old age (about 85), Tatyana Timofeevna became an interlocutor for Komsomolskaya Pravda. Larisa Kaftan’s feature “Legends and Myths of the House on the Embankment” — for the eightieth anniversary of the House of Government — is built in part on a walk with her through the courtyards and on her account.
It is a second layer of testimony beside the notebook. In the manuscript, childhood, the 1931 move, the yard, the club, and the years 1937–38 are written in the first person (ch. 02 , 03 , 13 ). In the newspaper the same nodes are spoken for a general reader: early-1930s children and clubs, the residential complex, her father and the settling of the house, sealed apartments, and the fear her mother later described. The family settled there when Tatyana was a child — not “in swaddling clothes”: between birth (1926) and the move (1931) about five years.
